Silver Swatches, Part 1.

In response to a request from lovely reader (and blogger!) Tabe-chan, here are some silvers.

Zoya Color Lock System Day 2 and 3

I had to end my test at day three. While the polish itself was wearing quite well, I just couldn't take it anymore. The bubbling was driving me insane, I had a party to go to and I wanted my nails to look good. I changed to Nubar Gold Leaf and used Nubar's base and top coats. Currently day two and no tipwear OR bubbles! Hahahahaha....

Anyway, here's some evidence:



This was Day one. Notice the extreme rippling of the surface of the polish due to bubbling under the polish.



This is day two. Only the barest hint of tipwear, but not really enough to be noticable.




Day three. Slight tipwear and minuscule chip on my pinkie.

At this point, I'm going to have to say that Zoya's Color Lock System lives up to its claims. It did increase my polish wear by 50%. Normally I have tipwear the second day, as I do tend to type a whole hell of a lot.

So, on that point only, good job Zoya.

I'm just not sure I can deal with the absurdly long drying time and the OMG-are-you-freaking-kidding-me, this-has-to-be-a-trick bubbles.

I'm going to give it another try eventually. The bubbling was just so incredibly massive I couldn't keep the polish on any longer. I have to see how long it takes to chip. Curious minds need to know.

Shenaz Treasurywala

Shenaz Treasurywala was born on 29th Jun 1981 in India. She is an Indian model, travel writer and actress who started her career with her first modeling assignment for the soft drink Gold Spot. She got fame with MTV's Most Wanted program as VJ. Her Bollywood debut was in the 2003 Bollywood film Ishq Vishk where she performed alongside Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao which also earned her nomination for the best supporting actress award by the Filmfare Film Awards for Ishq Vishk.

Currently she is anchoring The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 4 on Star One's. In previous seasons of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Perizad Kolah was the host.

What were you doing ten years ago?
Let's see... Ten years ago I was painting my nails black and silver, listening to KMFDM, Bush, Metallica and Nine Inch Nails and doing wacky bizarre things with my best buddies Jen and Stefanie. We made Kurt Cobain cereal, made fun of people who listened to Hanson and came up with weird code names for everyone (The Kid With The Hair, The Pants and the Eyes, Jooky, Keith Flint, et cetera). I was having the time of my life, and if I could go back and do it again I would. I was obsessed with my guitar and just learning to appreciate metal. Those were the days, indeed.

What are five things on your to-do list today?
- Bake cakes for party
- Decorate cakes for party
- Buy Father's Day gift and card
-Find the owners of the lost cockatiel that's staying with us
-Hang the laundry that's been in the dryer for two days

Places you've lived?
On State Street, that great street, I just want to say- they do things they don't do on Broadway...
They have the time, the time of their life- I saw a man, he danced with his wife in Chicago, Chicago, my home town!

What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?
-Buy my parents a big house in the country, make sure they're happy and comfortable and never have to work again
-Pay off mortgage
-Invest
-Somehow use my money to help homeless animals and shut down puppy mills and backyard breeders
-Travel the world!

Hmm, that's a tough one. Part of me would love to get to know Vas Kallas and Angela Gossow (my idols). I'd like to be closer to all the people I know, but I'm usually too afraid to ask personal questions because I feel like it's none of my business. I'd like to meet new people and learn about them. I'd totally love to get to know Balsac, The Jaws Of Death.

Here's just a little more eye-candy to get you drooling.

I love these polishes to death. Ji (or anyone else at Rescue!), if you're reading this, I need a purple! A bold eggplant, or deep shimmery violet! I'm begging, here! I'm dying for a rich, smooth, vibrant purple shade in Rescue Beauty Lounge's amazing, dreamy, buttery formula. Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top??


Anyway, enough dreaming and begging and on to the pictures.

Stormy. What a perfect polish. It really does look stormy!


Grunge. Really odd and unique. I'm digging this.


Under The Stars. Lovers of dark blues like OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue or MAC Naughty Nautical will love this for sure. Deep midnight blue with the perfect amount of blue shimmer.


And, this one's for Diann_co: Moxie! It's a pale white gold that looks absolutely luminous in the sunlight. Like CND Light Diffusion, but better!

I can't rave enough about how perfect this formula is. I know, I know, you're all thinking, "Scrangie, shut up already! We heard you the first five hundred times!"- but seriously! I think they put butter in this stuff! I think I've figured out the secret recipe- it's one part melted butter, one part pigment, one part glass and one part pixie dust. Or something like that...

I think the polish fumes are getting to me...

Zoya Color Lock System, Day 1

I couldn't wait to try out my new Zoya Color Lock system, so I painted my nails at 8:00 last night.

So far, not so good.

I followed the instructions exactly. There was no oil on my nails, I waited for my base coat to dry, everything.

The first thing I noticed is that this takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to dry. Like I said, I did my nails at around 8:00 last night, and this morning I could still dent them. I just can't wait that long for my nails to dry, it's not possible. I even used the Hurry Up drops and they did nothing.

The second thing I noticed is the MASSIVE BUBBLING. I have never, ever experienced bubbling this severe. I painted my nails indoors, away from any fans or vents, didn't shake the polish, had no oil on my nails, waited long enough between coats, used thin coats and still, bubbles.

The bubbling didn't appear right away, it started about 10 minutes into the drying process. It's so bad that my nails appear rippled and bumpy. To tell you the truth, I don't think I can keep this on long enough to test the wear. My nails look too awful right now.

This is one coat of Zoya Anchor, two thin coats of Zoya Indigo, one coat of Zoya Armor. It looks like my nails have warts or something. Gross.

But hey, look! Not even a hint of tipwear!

If I can hold out until this chips, you can count on me to post about it. I'm thinking at this point I might have to start over and try it again. I can't deal with the bubbles.

There are definite similarities, and while I'm not sure any of the comparisons are "dead on", they're similar enough to not need both.
